In The Fool, blackness teems with potential. The figure is led across a promontory which helps them to travel over layers of the four elements: Earth, Fire, Water, and Air. These are the knowns; the tools and lessons the figure brings with them into the void. The journey of the major arcana is before you, and you are the figure. You will need these tools to take with you through the door. The figure does not know what is beyond this portal, but to find out, they must pass through it. Same goes for you, and for everyone. We are all fools at the beginning of a quest.
You can reject or embrace The Fool. We always have a choice. But we must know that when we face the choice of whether or not to move forward, stay put, or turn back, we close ourselves off from unseen possibility. We block our own potential for growth. Sometimes, this is the right decision. Sometimes, no action is the best action. But mostly, The Fool comes up when their energy needs to be harnessed to spur us onward. Failure to follow instincts, after all, leads most often to disappointment or despair. It is the subtlety of learning the language of these instincts that is the real challenge.

- Our card: If you take a look at our completed aces (Pentacles, Swords & Wands), you’ll notice that each of these features a golden door and the traits of its’ suits corresponding elements (Earth, Air & Fire, respectively). This is how we chose to tie our Minor Arcana cards to our Major suit. The aces are the essence of the journey of each suit, just as the Fool is the essence of the journey of the major arcana. The symbology of portals and elements is vital to the narrative of the story of our deck, and it all begins with The Fool.
