King of Swords • PORTALS Tarot Print
- Divinatory meaning: As the ruler of what is widely agreed to be the most challenging of the four suits, it is no exaggeration to say that the king of swords is an accomplished man. He didn’t get to where he stands (overlooking his vast kingdom with casual satisfaction), with effortless ease. His position was attained with sweat and blood, and the only real teacher there is: experience. He is impressive, but not because of how he appears. Rather, he is so because of the things he has accomplished. These accomplishments make for a wise king, and a keenly intelligent one too. He is remote in his deportment, as his greatness sets him far above and away from other men, to whom he may have trouble relating. He prefers solitude and lives a frugal life, despite his vast wealth. He is a fair judge and can be counted on for objectivity when called upon to supply a verdict in times of conflict. If you seek advice from him, do not expect comfort or kindness, but you can rely on his honesty. Clouds drifting in from high above his head represent this king’s tendency toward deep thought. He is often troubled with the worries and cares of a monarch, though he takes care not to wear his troubles on his face. He takes his duty seriously. If you pull this card in a reading, either the situation at hand requires your formidable and decisive leadership, or someone in important your life right now bears a resemblance to the sword king. If you have a court date, expect the outcome to be a fair one.
- Our card: Recently, we lost a dear friend, dad, husband, adventurer and true seeker - Savannah’s father, Dave. This card is a tribute to his memory, and was composed with his daughter’s purest love and intention. His presence and her devotion to him came together to create this true embodiment of his spirit. Dave’s outline, made up of Van Gogh stars, was traced from a photograph of him taken by Cristina Biaggi at the 22,000ft summit of Aconcagua, the highest point in the western hemisphere. He left behind many people that he loved and who loved him; We all miss him very much. Keep climbing, keep striving & never cease to challenge yourselves.
