- Divinatory meaning: A youth sits high on a rock at sunrise, observing the water and boats below him and looking contemplative. It is not immediately apparent whether his eyes rove over ships he knows, and perhaps owns, or if they are so far only in his mind. But he finds himself dreaming - either of the success of some venture, or of the shape that future ventures might take. This card often comes to us in times of stability, but also when we are yearning for a shift. Visions of our future are vast and boundless, and we find ourselves in a position to make them reality. If this card appears to you, feel fortunate that your gifts and blessings afford you the opportunity to imagine. Think, now: what risk is required of you to make your imaged ships a true fleet? - Our card: We struggled quite a bit with beginning this piece. Having first fallen in love with the young man and his grounded, yet hopeful expression, we knew exactly which card he belonged to. The complex maze of color that makes up the sunrise and the slow lighting of the earth below it were only a matter of steady meticulousness. What took the longest time to find were his ships. He took a backseat to other pieces while we scoured hundreds of images for the right bend of sail, the right color, shape. But find them we did. I think he needed a little more time to dream them up.
